Over the last few years the concern about the environment has increased as never seen before. As a consequence markets are rapidly changing as well as attitudes of large proportions of Australians. To comply with the current developments retailers across the country are adopting their strategies to become more ‘green’. Retailers are working on recycling programs, reducing their waste and reducing the amount of water and electricity used. The pressure of big retailers on their suppliers to be sustainable enterprises is also increasing.

In the near future more changes are bound to take place. The Green Building Council of Australia already released the ‘Green Star – Shopping Centre Design rating tool’ assessing the environmental aspects of building components. The Australian government is issuing new bills like The Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme Bill 2009 and different companies are providing tools to measure ones carbon footprint.

SPOS is aware of the fact that they can help make a difference in co-creating and maintaining a healthy and eco-friendly environment. In order to do so SPOS will make sure that the products they provide are produced while taking responsibility for the environment

“At SPOS we do not only focus on our own product but on the whole chain of stakeholders; from shopfitter to retailer to consumer. We understand that all these parties should be taken into account in creating ecological solutions that benefit us all.”

89% of SPOS’ Ready-Made products are manufactured in a with ISO 14001 environmentally certified production facility.  70% Of the plant’s energy comes from hydraulic power and –depending on the product – up to 40% recycled material can be used.

Our creative team offers displays that include materials like Xanita-board, which is made out of recycled cardboard boxes and sugar cane bagasse making displays light-weight and thus reducing the amount of petrol used while shipping these displays. “Our creative department will try to use as much eco-preferred materials as possible, but will also provide our client with more solutions like light-weighting, design for updating and minimize the amount of different materials that are used.”

“These facts do not only reduce our own carbon footprint but will also reduce the footprint of our clients giving them a competitive edge.”

“We realize that we still have a long way to go but we are walking down the right path and will keep on making improvements. Not only for us but also for our clients and above all; to sustain our business without compromising the environment.”
